Jane has been telling tales at the Living Crafts fayre at Hatfield House over the weekend. We’ve just got in with sore feet and needing cups of tea. Our kids have reached the age at which watching their mother performing has limited appeal, so I had to send them off on their own whilst I sneaked a listen.

We’ve been so busy recently that I haven’t heard Jane tell for ages. And it was good. The part of the set I saw had her with a small group of very intent four-year olds. She was trying to convince them that she had dragon’s scales in her bag. They seemed ok with that. I know she was going on to tell Simon and the Fish; a tale I’d have liked to hung around for, but my two had had enough and demanded to go home. So I missed out. Perhaps I could request my own performance later.
