Hazel, willow, beef and storytelling from Bedfordshire

Jane’s favourite celebrations

February – National Storytelling week

Celebrating stories in the oral tradition with a storytelling performance. Follow up workshops to help children and/or teachers tell tales themselves, leaving the book behind.

March – World Book Day

Celebrate books, story writing and a good read. What is a storyteller’s favourite book? Find out after the performance or in a workshop to create stories for the children’s own books.

May – Walk in the Woods

is the Tree Council’s festival to encourage everyone to enjoy trees and woods. If you go down to the woods today… what stories will you discover? Jane can accompany a school visit to a local woodland to find out.

June – National School Grounds Week and Environment Day

Storytelling can also be used to introduce ecological messages and explore our relationship to the natural world. Jane regularly uses stories in her environmental education work.

September – Harvest Festival

A performance of food and farming tales to celebrate the harvest.

November/ December – National Tree Week

Do you have trees to celebrate in your school grounds? Discover what tales they have to tell.
