We keep Red Poll Cattle, East Anglia’s native breed, a cross between a Suffolk polled (hornless) bull and a Norfolk cow (both now extinct).  It was first described as a breed in the latter half of the Nineteenth Century. In the early Twentieth Century it was one of the dominant breeds in English dairy farming. The breed is truly dual purpose, producing excellent tasting beef, and a good yield of milk with a high butterfat and protein content. We don’t milk though; that’s left to the calves.

There’s lots of information about our Red Polls and how we keep them here

and about the beef they produce here

I am enjoying your blog. I liked you on facebook and hope you will like us as well. We are just getting into Red Poll Cattle in the United States, so it is nice to see another breeder and poetential resource.
Please note that the site below links to our wordpress.com site, but we have dropped that one in favor of our self-hosted site at wordpress.org

I hope you are able to stop by and that we can learn from one another (you are ahead of us for certain)

Sorry to make you yearn to travel…Thanks for stopping by our site. We are definitely trying to figure out the Red Poll genetics and how to expand ours. At some point, I may look at bringing in some semen from abroad, so maybe we can stay in contact. I have access to some semen from Australia, but none from their original areas. Anyway, I have rambled. I enjoy meeting Red Poll Enthusiasts!
