Jane’s busy at the moment, running kids’ holiday events at the Forest Centre, Marston Moretaine and last Wednesday, a family event called Run Wild, for the Greensand Trust at Ampthill Park. Seems like everything went well. Apparently 90 kids on Thursday at Marston, all making giant sunflowers and sundials and amazingly, the sun shone for some of the day too.
Jane will be back at the Forest Centre tomorrow doing a Story Safari. If I’m honest, I don’t know exactly what that is, but Jane’s amazing at coming up with stuff that kids love. There may be places left – if you’re interested, check out the Forest web site where there’s also information about ‘Buzzing About’ on 13 August – cool things all about bees!
When we had a go at making a giant spider’s web from hazel, willow and string, in preparation for Wednesday’s Ampthill Park event, I wasn’t entirely sure it was a sensible idea. As ever Jane proved me wrong and managed to create something simple but really beautiful. When reconstructed in the Park, it clearly went well; loads of people added something to the web (including requests for more den building and animals) and went away with a willow wand.
There’s more information about Jane’s environmental education and storytelling here.
